WWII-Era Martin Mars Was Assembled In Middle River
An Aero-News reader called our attention Tuesday to efforts by
Maryland's Glenn L. Martin Maryland Aviation Museum to bring a
WWII-era Martin Mars seaplane back home.
The commercial space race is here and Bigelow Aerospace is in the
thick of it. Placing a low-cost space "complex" into low earth
orbit for the commercial sector is one goal.
Use of a jet rather than piston engine connected to a propeller.
Turboprop engines are increasingly used when more horsepower is
needed for speed or payload than the horsepower available from the
current light-aircraft piston engines.

"Jet-man" Yves Rossy. Rossy recently jumped from a plane over the
Swiss Alps, deployed his jetpack's foldable wings, and lit up four
small jet engines. He flew at speeds greater than 100 knots, and
even managed to climb slightly before popping his parachute to
float to the ground.
