In what could be a significant development regarding the
mysterious disappearance of adventurer Steve Fossett, authorities
announced Wednesday a hiker found three pieces of identification
and other items that may have belonged to the missing pilot along a
trail near Mammoth Lakes, CA.
Pilot Class 43-D was one of the largest to enter training during
World War 2. The designation "43-D" came from the year of
graduation, the "D" being the fourth letter of the alphabet,
signifying April. In April 1943, 5,275 members graduated from 29
Advanced Flying Schools, and received their wings. Many of our
these pilots were lost in World War 2, many were discharged after
WW2, and many went on to serve proudly, again, during the Korea
conflict and Vietnam.
Instructions issued to a pilot making an instrument approach
which means continue inbound to the missed approach point and
execute the missed approach procedure as described on the
Instrument Approach Procedure Chart or as previously assigned by
ATC.
"We conclude that FAA may not auction slots under its
property disposition authority, user fee authority, or any other
authority, and thus also may not retain or use proceeds of any such
auctions."

opinion Tuesday, stating the Federal Aviation Administration has no
legal authority to auction off takeoff and landing slots at the
nation's largest airports. But how much weight that ruling actually
carries remains murky at best, as GAO decisions are
