London Air Services Orders Five Learjet 75s

First Canadian Launch Customer For The New Aircraft

A firm order for five Learjet 75 aircraft has been placed by London Air Services (LAS), according to a news release from Bombardier. The order is valued at approximately $65 million based on the 2012 list price for typically equipped aircraft. LAS is the first Canadian operator to place a firm order for the new light jet.

Anaheim Mayor Says 'Not So Fast' On Airplane Purchase

City Had Plans For A Cessna Grand Caravan

The Mayor of Anaheim, CA, has put the (air) brakes on the city's planned $2.2 million purchase of a Cessna 208B Grand Caravan. Mayor Tom Tait says he needs more information before he can approve the purchase. The city had green-lighted the acquisition last month, saying there was a strong public safety case made for the purchase of the aircraft.

DOT IG Finds U.S. Customs Missing UAV Support Equipment

Says Agency Has Not Property Budgeted For Use Of Its Unmanned Aircraft

The inspector general (IG) of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) warned U.S. Customs and Boarder Protection (CBP) on June 11 that it has not adequately obtained resources to support its unmanned drones, while also admonishing the agency for failing to properly plan for use of the aircraft. CBP’s Office of Air and Marine has never appropriately budgeted and acquired all of the necessary resources to support its 10 existing and planned UAV aircraft, said the IG report.
