Delegates from 191 countries meet in Montreal next week for the 38th International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Assembly. Ahead of the meeting, representatives of the global air transport industry, covering airlines, airports, air navigation service providers, aerospace manufacturers and business aviation, issued a strong call for action by governments to support the industry’s efforts in reducing the climate impact of the sector.

Completes Deal Struck At Paris Air Show

GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) and Boeing have completed an order for 10 787-10 Dreamliners. The order completes the commitment originally announced during the 2013 Paris Air Show in June and builds momentum in the airplane leasing market for the 787-10. The GECAS deliveries begin in 2019.

German Airline Splits Order For Fleet Modernization Program

Lufthansa has announced an aggressive modernization plan for its long-haul fleet with an order split between Boeing and Airbus. The airline reportedly has agreed to purchase 59 "ultra-modern" aircraft following a recommendation by the Deutsche Lufthansa AG Executive Board headed by Dr. Christoph Franz held Wednesday.

Air France has announced that 2,800 people will be separated from the airline as part of its "Transform 2015" program. The airline presented an updated version of the plan to the Central Works Council Thursday.

Boeing and Air Lease Corporation (ALC) announced Wednesday that they have completed an order for 30 787-10 and three 787-9 Dreamliners. The order, valued at $9.4 billion at list prices, fulfills the commitment originally announced during the 2013 Paris Air Show in June.

Ten years ago, JetBlue Airways Captain Eric Scott invited a young traveler to visit the cockpit and unknowingly changed this boy's life. Elijah Hedrington was just five years old, traveling to Burlington, VT as part of the Fresh Air Fund. This program provides free summer experiences to New York City children from low-income communities. Elijah's escort happened to be Sheila Donnell, a JetBlue Inflight crewmember who volunteers for the program. On this flight, Sheila introduced Elijah to Capt. Scott. Capt.
