ANN REALTIME REPORTING 09.08.08 1530 EDT: The
reposting of a six-year-old news report was to blame Monday for
panic among investors in UAL Corp., parent company of United
Airlines... who dumped their shares in the troubled carrier,
believing UAL had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy for the second
time in six years.
Just the other day, the ANN staff noted with our eyebrows raised
we hadn't seen a single "stupid TSA" story for the past couple
weeks or so. We even questioned whether that could be a sign the
embattled agency was (finally) getting its act together. Yeah, we
knew that trend couldn't last, too.
As workers represented by the International Association of
Machinists began their first week walking the picket lines outside
Boeing plants in Washington, Oregon and Kansas, analysts and
industry pundits seem to agree the walkout will last at least a
month... but after that, it's anybody's guess.
Reduced Work Week Curbs Need For Furloughs For Now
Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. announced Monday the company is taking
immediate action to reduce production volumes on certain Boeing
products as a result of the International Association of Machinists
(IAM) strike at the American planemaker.
