U.S. Law Prohibits Solicitation For 45 Days After A Crash
As if the fallout from the recent crash of an Asiana Boeing 777 in San Francisco has not been politically charged enough, now the NTSB says it is investigating complaints of what it calls "air crash chasing" attorneys. In the automotive world the term is "ambulance chaser" and it is not a compliment to any attorney.
The U.S. Senate last week passed the "Helping Heroes Fly Act," introduced by Sens. Mark Pryor and Kelly Ayotte. This bill, spearheaded by Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, had wide bipartisan support in both the House and Senate. AFGE supported the bill since its inception.
Alleges He Was 'Forced to Crawl' As Airline Staff Refused To Assist Him
Hawaiian resident D. Baraka Kanaan has filed suit against Delta Airlines after he says he was "forced to crawl" while both boarding and disembarking on a round trip flight from his island home to Nantucket in 2012. Kanaan alleges the airline violated his rights under the American with Disabilities Act and the Air Carrier Access Act. The suit was filed in U.S. District Court in Hawaii.
Factual Information Released Concerning Crew, Weather Conditions
In its continuing investigation of the July 22 accident in which Southwest Airlines flight 345, a B-737-700, landed hard at New York's LaGuardia Airport (LGA), the National Transportation Safety Board has developed and released factual information concerning the crew of the airplane and weather at LaGuardia at the time of the accident.
