Company Says Finding His Replacement Will Be "Challenging"

Bombardier said Wednesday that Gary Scott, its commercial-aviation division president, will retire Oct. 1, a decision made for personal reasons unrelated to the highly anticipated CSeries mainline aircraft. Guy Hachey, president and chief operating officer of Bombardier Aerospace, will serve as interim head until a replacement is named, the Montreal-based transportation giant said in a statement.

List Price Of The Order Tops $8.5 Billion

In what may have been one on the industry's worst-kept secrets, Boeing and Delta Air Lines announced an order for 100 Next-Generation 737-900ER (extended range) airplanes Wednesday. The order, with a list-price value of more than $8.5 billion, is part of Delta's fleet renewal effort to replace its less efficient domestic airplanes.

The Teamsters have filed objections to the recent Continental-United fleet service elections with the National Mediation Board, Teamsters General President James P. Hoffa announced Wednesday. The objections come on the heels of a vote count between the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) over representation of the fleet service work group at the newly merged United and Continental Airlines.
