The largest trade association for the nation's 366 commercial
airports filed comments Monday opposing the Federal Aviation
Administration’s (FAA) proposal to auction two slots at
Newark Liberty International Airport on September 3.
Those living around Tampa, FL are no strangers to inclement
weather, particularly in the summertime. Late afternoon
thunderstorms are the norm during the hottest months... and
hurricanes remain a distinct possibility, as well (case in point:
as of Monday afternoon, Tropical Storm Fay was forecasted to hit
the area later this week, as at least as Category 1 hurricane.)
The first of eight Boeing 777-300ER (Extended Range) jetliners
ordered by TAM Airlines, Brazil's largest airline, left Paine Field
for Sao Paulo Sunday.
United Airlines announced Monday that Kathryn Mikells will be
named senior vice president and chief financial officer, succeeding
Jake Brace, executive vice president and chief financial officer,
who is retiring November 1.
The wave of patriotism hitting the airlines lately would be
heart-warming... if not for the fact that all that seems to be
motivating them is a desire to avoid any more bad PR. Northwest
Airlines has joined in the flag-waving with a recent announcement
that it is waiving the fee for a third checked bag by military
personnel traveling on Northwest Airlines and Northwest Airlink
regional partners in its continued support of military efforts
around the world.
