In an effort to concentrate resources on detecting explosive
threats -- and not so much on hassling ordinary citizens -- the
Transportation Security Administration announced Friday it will no
longer enforce the ban on common lighters in carry-on luggage.
Torch lighters, however, will continue to be banned in
carry-ons.
