Generation of Airliners?
Talk about a milestone (and 'no' pressure)... Boeing and ANA
(All Nippon Airways) have completed pilot training in Seattle, WA,
for the first airline crews who will fly the 787 Dreamliner. Ten
ANA pilots concluded their training after each pilot performed
flights in ZA001 – the first 787 flight test airplane –
over Washington state. These initial crews to go through training
are ANA's senior training pilots and check airmen and will conduct
both simulator and airplane line training for ANA in Japan. They
will be the first pilots on 787 commercial flights for ANA.

Upgrades
As shareholders of United Airlines gather this week for the
annual United Airlines shareholders meeting, ALPA tells ANN (using
some pretty confrontational language as it postures for position)
that, 'it is incumbent upon United CEO Jeff Smisek and his
management team to thoroughly explain the facts regarding the
progress of the United/Continental merger. Much work remains to be
completed before they can proclaim the merger a success, according
to the pilots of United and Continental Airlines.'
ATA 'Reaffirms' Airlines' Support for Our Military
In the wake of the public drubbing Delta airlines got, this
week, over stiffing a number of soldiers returning from Afghanistan
with at least one too may gear bags, the airline industry is
displaying a sudden wave of selfish, uh, selfless patriotism. Mind
you, this only happened after some of the soldiers who,
collectively, ponied up over $2800 in extra fees... and then took
their case to YouTube with a video that, in a number of forms and
copies, has received over a half-million views... and counting.
Five-Year Deal For MRO Services On Beech 1900D Fleet
A service agreement for engine maintenance, repair and overhaul
(MRO) has been signed between Vector Aerospace Corporation and
Gulfstream International Airlines (GIA), based in Dania Beach,
FL.
