During a Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee
hearing Thursday on the proposed merger between United Airlines and
Continental Airlines, Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX), Ranking
Member on the Committee, said she was disappointed with the
proposed merger decision.
Presented To Companies For Maintenance Training Excellence
Alaska Airlines has received the FAA's Diamond Award for
maintenance training excellence for the ninth consecutive year. The
Diamond Award, the FAA's most prestigious maintenance honor,
recognizes Alaska's ongoing commitment to aircraft maintenance and
training excellence.
Turkish Airlines has placed a firm order for an
additional A330-200 aircraft. The purchase joins existing
orders for 10 A330-300s, two A330-200 freighters and 24 A320 family
aircraft signed in 2009. The newly-ordered aircraft will be powered
by Rolls Royce engines and will be delivered in 2011.

A US Airways regional jet had to abort a takeoff at Yeager
Airport in Charleston, West Virgina Tuesday, but it was prevented
from going over the edge at the mountaintop airport by a
lightweight concrete material designed for that purpose.
