Goodrich shareholders have voted to approve a proposed merger with United Technologies Corp. in a special shareholder meeting held Tuesday. The final tabulation indicates that more than 98 percent of votes were cast in favor of the transaction, which represents approximately 75 percent of the total outstanding shares of Goodrich common stock as of February 6, 2012, the record date for the special meeting.

In a survey conducted by the Air Canada Pilots Association (ACPA) and released Tuesday, a majority of Canadians want Air Canada to negotiate a new contract with its pilots and avoid having the federal government impose arbitration. Fifty-eight per cent of poll respondents agreed that Air Canada should negotiate directly with its pilots to agree on a mutually acceptable contract.
