Boeing Delivers Its 700th 777 To ILFC, Cathay Pacific

No Low-Altitude Fly-Bys This Time

Boeing told ANN this week that on Friday, the American planemaker delivered its 700th 777 -- a 777-300ER (Extended Range) aircraft to International Lease Finance Corp. (ILFC) and its customer, Cathay Pacific Airways. The 777 Program reached this milestone after 12 years in service -- faster than any other twin-aisle airplane program in commercial aviation history.

Reason Foundation Supports Third Runway For JFK

Says NextGen Tech Will Help Increase Capacity And Safety

A new study by the Reason Foundation states New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport could reduce delays and increase capacity by adding a new runway between two existing runways. The group adds even with the new runway -- which the Foundation says could safely be built between runways 4R and 4L -- JFK would still have runway spacing that is greater than the current separation between runways at San Francisco International Airport, and similar to Boston’s Logan International.

Porter Airlines Orders Two More Q400 Turboprops

Toronto-Based Airline Converts Options

Bombardier Aerospace announced Monday Porter Airlines of Toronto recently signed a firm order contract for two 70-seat Q400 turboprop airliners. The transaction represents the conversion of two of the 10 options taken by Porter when it placed a firm order for 10 Q400 aircraft in 2006, and brings the total number of firm Q400 aircraft orders placed by the airline to 12.
