New US DOT Hazmat Safety Rule to Place Lithium Battery Limits
in Carry-on Baggage on Passenger Aircraft Effective January 1,
2008
Passengers will no longer be able to pack loose lithium
batteries in checked luggage beginning January 1, 2008 once new
federal safety rules take effect. The new regulation, designed to
reduce the risk of lithium battery fires, will continue to allow
lithium batteries in checked baggage if they are installed in
electronic devices, or in carry-on baggage if stored in plastic
bags.

787 Program Reaches 787th Order Milestone With Prominent
British Airways Order
Boeing and British Airways have finalized an order for eight
Boeing 787-8s and 16 787-9s, raising the total number of 787s
ordered worldwide from 766 to 790 and taking the 787 order book
past the 787th mark. The order is valued at $4.4 billion at list
prices. British Airways also placed options for 18 787s and
purchase rights for an additional 10.
Announces Plan for Fleet Modernization and Renewal
GOL has decided to exercise firm orders for 34 Boeing 737-800
NGs, completing the purchase option for 121 aircraft negotiated in
October 2006, and has signed a new contract for the acquisition of
40 additional aircraft for delivery in 2012-2014.
