US Secretary of Transportation Mary E. Peters announced Tuesday
the Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded US Airways the
right to begin a new daily round trip between Ronald Reagan
Washington National Airport and Akron/Canton, OH that will provide
the state’s communities with their only nonstop service to
Washington.
North American Airlines, a subsidiary of Global Aero Logistics
Inc., is growing its fleet of charter jets just in time for this
season's college football bowl games. North American has entered
into an agreement with aircraft lessor AerCap Group to take
delivery of its sixth Boeing 767-300ER in December 2008.

While it's possible we'll see a number of delays this week as
holiday travelers flock to US airports... things could be much,
much worse. Consider the sad case of travelers attempting to leave
Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport... which was effectively shut down
by protesters Tuesday night, and remains in a lockdown situation at
this writing.

The Transportation Security Administration knows it has public
perception issues, and has turned to time-tested tools to better
define its problems -- a consulting company and focus groups!
When unionized pilots for Delta and Northwest reached an
agreement with Delta management on a post-merger contract, that
agreement called for the Air Line Pilots Association to submit an
application to the National Mediation Board, seeking a
determination that Delta and Northwest now constitute a single
carrier.
