1500 Flight Attendants, 322 IAM Workers Have Jumped Ship While
They Can
United Airlines announced Thursday that as of this week, 322
employees represented by the International Association of
Machinists (IAM) have taken advantage of the Early Out and
Voluntary Furlough programs agreed to by the company and the
union.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded a contract
this week to Sensis Corp. of Syracuse, NY to install runway status
lights at 22 major US airports. Runway status lights are designed
to improve runway safety at busy airports by warning pilots when it
is unsafe to cross or enter a runway.
The National Transportation Safety Board has told the Federal
Aviation Administration that many elements of its new rule dealing
with aircraft flight recorders comply with previous NTSB
recommendations... but noted that some of its recommendations were
not adopted.
Controllers in Chicago, Denver, St. Louis And MSP Now Using New
Systems
Controllers serving four major US airports are now using
terminal air traffic control systems modernized by Lockheed Martin
and Raytheon, on contract with the Federal Aviation
Administration.
Composite Props From MT Propeller Lessen Noise, Maintenance
Costs
German air carrier Regional Air Express has successfully
completed a series of test flights with new, five-blade composite
propellers of MT Propeller in Straubing, Germany fitted to one of
its Metroliners.
