SUMMARY: The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive
(AD) for certain Boeing Model 737-600, -700, -700C, -800 and -900
series airplanes.
Hundreds of WestJet Airlines passengers boarded their
regularly scheduled flights from Las Vegas, NV to Calgary, Alberta,
on January 15, without noticing anything unusual.
Two pilots were hospitalized but reported safe after their
ATR-42 turboprop aircraft landed short of runway 17R Tuesday
morning at Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport (LBB) in
west Texas.
The Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) voted in favor Monday
of an agreement with Delta Air Lines, committing the airline to
maintain 10,000 Minnesota jobs and 400 daily departures from its
Minneapolis-St. Paul hub.
Concerned that record order backlogs will dissolve as airlines
are unable to finance new aircraft deliveries in a hostile economic
environment, financial authorities on both sides of the Atlantic
have agreed to pour new cash into banks to help fund those
planes.
