US Airways announced Monday the promotion of Derek J. Kerr to
executive vice president and chief financial officer, and named
Brad Jensen as senior vice president and chief information officer.
Both officer appointments were approved last week by the company's
board of directors.
The slumping economy appears to have claimed yet another high
profile victim in the aviation industry. The Commercial Airline
Pilot Training (CAPT) Program has halted operations at least
temporarily, due to the current economic environment.
US Airways Captain Chesley Sullenberger has avoided the
spotlight since his famous role in
"The Miracle on the Hudson," but he agreed to
address a small group in the upscale San Francisco suburb of
Danville, CA, where he lives, provided town leaders kept it
"low-key."
