Arianespace has completed the payload integration on its fourth Ariane 5 to be launched in 2009, clearing the way for this vehicle's liftoff from the Spaceport in French Guiana on Friday. The heavy-lift Ariane 5 has been fitted with its dual payload "stack" of  telecommunications satellites.

Lockheed Martin Aerospace Division To Cut 800 Jobs

Separate From Job Losses Due To Phase-Out Of Shuttle Program

Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company, a division of US global security firm Lockheed Martin Corporation, said Monday it would cut about 800 jobs by year-end to improve its competitiveness. The company said the payroll deductions represent about 4.5 percent of the overall workforce.
