Storm Threatens To Move Inland Once Again, Stronger Than
Before
NASA's Kennedy Space Center near Titusville, FL will remain
closed Wednesday because of the potential wind threat to workers
from Tropical Storm Fay. Center managers decided Wednesday morning
to keep Kennedy closed another day to general personnel through at
least workers' second shift, which ends late Wednesday night.
'Shuttle for Everyone' Prototype To Fly In October
Like many Americans coming of age during the time of the Apollo
missions, Morris Jarvis dreamed of someday blasting off into space.
But even his friends and co-workers were a little surprised when in
1993 he stopped dreaming, and started building a space shuttle in
his garage in suburban Phoenix.
Following years of development, NASA officials announced this
week that two hypersonic experiment payloads are scheduled for
launch no earlier than Thursday, August 21 from NASA's Wallops
Flight Facility in Virginia.
In what might strike some as an inelegant solution, NASA
announced Tuesday it will employ 17 large vibration dampeners to
quell vibrations in its upcoming Ares I booster rocket.
