Space Elevator Games To Take Place At The 2006 X Prize Cup In New Mexico

The X PRIZE Foundation and the Spaceward Foundation have signed an agreement that will bring the Space Elevator Games, a NASA Centennial Challenge, to the 2006 X PRIZE Cup in Las Cruces, New Mexico. More than 20 teams are expected to compete for $400,000 at the Las Cruces International Airport on October 20-21, 2006.

NASA, Air Force Agree to Aeronautics Cooperation

NASA and the United States Air Force have formed an aeronautics research partnership. NASA Administrator Michael Griffin and Secretary of the Air Force Michael Wynne signed a Memorandum of Understanding Monday at a Pentagon ceremony. The agreement builds upon and expands on the longstanding relationship between the two organizations.

STS-115 Crew Training in Florida

The STS-115 astronauts kicked off their prelaunch training Tuesday morning at Kennedy Space Center's Launch Pad 39, where they drove M-113 armored personnel carriers that would be used for a quick escape from the pad area in the event of an emergency.
