But the less than perfect weather did not dampen the spirits of those who came to Wittman Field at mid week, and the attendance was robust, if not record breaking.
Surprise Announcement Is Sad... But The Transitions Seems To Have Gone Off Rather Well
It came as a surprise... and a sad one at that. Mid-morning Tuesday, EAA Communication Boss Dick Knapinski put the word out that there was to be an unscheduled announcement at the Brown Arch on the grounds of Wittman Field... the rumor mill went into over-drive but the prevalent story was that Tom was ready to hand ALL the reins over to new EAA President and CEO, Rod Hightower.
Oshkosh, one week a year, is a microcosm of the world... a massive group of small unique associations and groups all dedicated to a common cause... and doing their own thing in the process.
