The Federal Aviation Administration has granted the Jacksonville
Aviation Authority approval to move ahead with the licensing
process for construction of a spaceport at Cecil Field in
Florida.
Airborne Systems told ANN this week its Space and Recovery
Systems Engineering team (formerly Irvin Aerospace) has been
selected to provide Recovery Systems for Space Exploration
Technologies Corp.'s (SpaceX) Falcon 9/Dragon system.
ANN has learned that earlier this year, Canada's National
Research Council Institute for Aerospace Research (NRC Aerospace)
has successfully completed an acoustic qualification test on
RADARSAT-2, a new remote-sensing satellite built by MacDonald
Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (MDA) under contract to the Canadian
Space Agency (CSA).
