NASA transferred space shuttle Discovery to the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum during a ceremony Thursday, April 19, at the Stephen F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, VA. "Today, while we look back at Discovery's amazing legacy, I also want to look forward to what she and the shuttle fleet helped to make possible," said NASA Administrator Charles Bolden.

Draft Bill Shows An Increase Of Over $400 Million Compared To FY2012

The Senate Appropriations Committee has released details of its draft Commerce, Justice, Science Appropriations bill that provides $525 million for NASA’s Commercial Crew Program for the 2013 Fiscal Year, an increase from the $406 million provided in the final bill last year. The House Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice and Science draft bill provides $500 million for the program.

JAA Applauds Governor, Legislature For Promoting Commercial Space Industry In Jacksonville, FL

Florida Governor Rick Scott has signed into law a space territory measure that will strengthen the ability of Cecil Airport in Jacksonville to compete as a commercial horizontal launch spaceport. Under House Bill 59, Cecil Airport will be included in Space Florida’s master planning efforts and be eligible for appropriate infrastructure improvements that will ultimately allow Florida to compete for spaceflight industries business.
