Friday's Schedule Full Of Checks, Heat Shield Inspection
The seven-member crew of the space shuttle Atlantis spent their
first full day in space Friday, by readying the orbiter for
Saturday's scheduled arrival at the International Space Station,
and inspecting Atlantis' ceramic tile heat shield.
Mars is about to come into focus as never before, thanks to the
data from the Mars Express High Resolution Stereo Camera (HRSC). A
new high-resolution Digital Terrain Model data set, released this
week onto the Internet, will allow researchers to obtain new
information about the Red Planet... in 3-D, no less.

$505 Million Contract Includes Two Heavy-Lift Missions
This week, the US Air Force awarded United Launch Alliance a
$505 million contract to provide launch services for three new
National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) satellites aboard Delta IV
rockets, under the Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle program. The
EELV Launch Services Contract provides for the production, hardware
integration, assembly and checkout of the launch vehicle.
