NASA'S J-2X Engine Kicks Off 2012 With Powerpack Testing

First New 'Human Rated' Engine To Be Developed In Four Decades

A new series of tests on NASA's new J-2X engine will begin next week at NASA's Stennis Space Center in southern Mississippi. NASA says the tests on the engine bring it one step closer to the first human-rated liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen rocket engine to be developed in 40 years.

Stratolaunch Systems Breaks Ground In CA

Smaller Of Two Hangars Going Up In Mohave Desert

Construction is now underway on an 88,000 sq. ft. hangar in the Mohave Desert which will house the factory which builds the latest collaboration between aircraft designer Burt Rutan and Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen. Their new company, Stratolaunch Systems, Inc., is based in Huntsville, Alabama, but construction and testing of the six-engine mothership in the California desert.
