Kissimmee, FL Airport Board Member Provides Medical Flight

Haitian Earthquake Survivor Transported To North Carolina

Kissimmee Gateway Airport (KISM) said in a news release that its Airport Advisory Board member Johnny Pineyro has provided air transportation through Angel Flight Southeast to Judeline Jean, a Haitian teenager in need of medical treatment due to injuries sustained in an earthquake on Jan. 12, 2010.  On Sunday, Pineyro departed with co-pilot Ryan Johannsen from Kissimmee Airport, fly to St. Lucie County International Airport to pick up Jean, and then traveled to Asheville Regional Airport in North Carolina where she will receive free medical care.

The 16-year-old girl's left arm and hand were crushed in the earthquake, and Jean lost her left leg after a cement ceiling collapsed.  Dr. Bruce Minkin has offered to do reconstructive surgery on Jean's arm and hand, as well as fit her with a new prosthetic leg at no cost.

Pineyro has been involved in the aviation industry for more than 7 years; is a board member of Angel Flight Southeast; is a member of Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) and Challenge Air; and is owner of Pineyro Law Firm in Celebration, FL.

Angel Flight Southeast, Inc. is a non-profit volunteer pilot organization involved in "public benefit flying."  The organization provides a variety of services to the community, but mostly we arrange free air transportation by private aircraft to distant medical facilities when commercial service is not available, impractical or simply not affordable.  Angel Flight Southeast, a member of the Air Charity Network, serves the state of Florida.
