Canadian Dash 8 Broken Into At Pond Inlet, Nanavut

Canadian North Airline Says It Will No Longer Leave Aircraft At That Airport

Officials for Canadian North airline say they will no longer park airplanes overnight at Pond Inlet airport in Nanavut after one of their Dash 8 airliners (similar airplane pictured) was broken into last Wednesday.

Damage to the airliner caused the carrier to cancel a flight Thursday morning. Canadian North president Tracy Medve said there had been problems at the airport in the past. Medve said airport officials would have to prove they had beefed up security before the airline would leave another plane there overnight.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation reported that the RCMP had a person in custody in connection with the break-in, and an investigation was continuing.
