Aero-TV: Jeppview Flight Deck -- Easy, Accessible Paperless Charting

Paper? We Don't Need No Stinkin' Paper!

We live in amazing times... and with our recent acquisition of a Cirrus G3 Turbo, crammed to its composite rafters with electronic wonders, we are starting to get up close and personal with the realities of a (largely) paperless cockpit. It's an amazing process. However, when it comes to charting of any type, paper, electronic, you name it, its hard to even discuss the topic without the name 'Jeppesen" coming into the picture.

The Jeppview program joins 'the electronic age with Jeppesen JeppView electronic navigation charts' and allows users to receive all the information they would normally get from their standard Airway Manual and Bottlang Airfield Manual in easy-to-use electronic formats -- for both EFBs as well as popular Glass Cockpit platforms. All a pilot need do is pick the coverage area and Jepp supplies airway and airport diagrams, navigation aids and approach plates - all electronically. For those of us who remember (NOT too fondly) what it took to keep up with paper Jepps and the regular updates, this is a welcome addition to the 21st century.

By the way, these subscriptions allow for online update capability, downloaded from the internet, which makes the process tremendously easy and accessible from nearly anywhere. Every 14 days, just download your update and go flying...

Jeppesen's Mark Ruger takes ANN's Paul Plack through the basics of electronic charting in a recent interview from Lakeland, FL.
