AOPA To Expand Its Presence At NBAA

Pilot Advocacy Group Reaches Out To All Flyers

Fully 70 percent of all general aviation flight hours are in support of business activities. That includes everything from the Fortune 500 company with a fleet of business jets and professional staff pilots... to the salesman with a VFR private pilot certificate and a 5,000 square mile territory.

The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association recognizes that regardless of the type of aircraft used, a business pilot has different needs and concerns than a purely recreational pilot. That's why AOPA exhibits at the National Business Aviation Association Convention each year -- to talk to business flyers face to face.

"For nearly 70 years, AOPA has thrived because first and foremost, we listen to our members about what they need and want," said AOPA President Phil Boyer.

AOPA says it will be listening carefully at its booth (#1815) at the NBAA convention. Pilots will have an opportunity to tell AOPA what issues are uppermost in the minds by taking part in a survey.

Everyone who completes the survey will automatically be entered in a drawing for an Amazon Kindle -- a wireless, portable reading device with instant access to more than 170,000 books, newspapers, magazines and blogs. Weighing just 10.3 ounces, it is lighter and thinner than a paperback... and since it requires no computer, cables or syncing, it's a perfect travel companion for busy pilots on the go.

AOPA is also offering an NBAA "show-special" -- 35% off an AOPA membership and AOPA Legal Services Plan (LSP) for ATP pilots package, or a savings of $48. LSP helps pilots protect their certificates, and their careers. The plan provides advice and assistance with FAA medical certification legal matters, aircraft accidents, customs enforcement actions and much more.

The group notes that not only can LSP save AOPA members thousands of dollars in legal fees, but more importantly, it enables them to respond most effectively to an FAA enforcement action, and minimizes its effect on their flying.
