NBAA Applauds House Resolution Saluting General Aviation

Resolution Recognizes The Value Of GA To the Economy

The NBAA Wednesday welcomed the passage of a non-binding resolution by the U.S. House of Representatives, that recognizes the value of general aviation to the nation’s economic and transportation systems. The resolution, H.Res. 508, was sponsored by Rep. Jeff Fortenberry (R-1-NE).

“NBAA applauds Congressman Fortenberry for his resolution recognizing the value of general aviation, including business aviation, to citizens, companies and communities across the U.S.,” said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. “We thank him for introducing his resolution, and we commend the leaders in the House who have signed on in support for the measure.”

Fortenberry’s resolution specifically points to the job creation, economic activity, humanitarian support and business productivity generated by the industry. Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-7-MD) and Rep. Frank LoBiondo (R-2-NJ) of the House Aviation Subcommittee also took to the floor to speak about general aviation’s benefits and value to the country. These are among the points also made through the No Plane No Gain advocacy initiative, which is jointly sponsored by NBAA and the General Aviation Manufacturers Association.

The resolution was strongly supported by members of the House General Aviation Caucus. When it formed earlier this year, NBAA welcomed the caucus that now has nearly 60 members representing congressional districts across the country.
