Aviat Aircraft Issues Service Letter On Husky

Aviat Aircraft has issued its second service letter for the Husky, covering model A-1A from s/n 1396 and above, as well as the A-1B 2001 2247. At issue are field reports regarding the life of horizontal stabilizer threaded terminals. It is believed they have a service life of two to five hundred hours.

The letter, not to be confused with a Service Bulletin, is an alert message, not a required action.

Aviat's engineering department has voluntarily researched the cause of this life-limit and developed a new terminal with a greatly increased service as a solution. The company high recommends that the owners or operators of the airplanes affected replace the threaded terminals, Aviat P/N 35648-001 with the redesigned part: 35648.002 as soon as practical to eliminate any possibility of an in-flight failure. Owners of the models cited above are asked to contact Aviat Aircrafts parts department to purchase replacement terminals. They can be reached at 307.885.3151; fax 307.885.9674.
