Expands Training Capability in Cooperation with Aerolineas
Argentinas
Alteon Training, a wholly owned
subsidiary of The Boeing Company, is broadening its support of the
South American region by placing a 737-300/400/500 full-flight
simulator and virtual procedures trainer at Aerolineas Argentinas'
Buenos Aires facility.
"We are pleased to join with the world's preferred training
partner to expand the training solutions in the region while
creating a more cost effective training solution for our
operation," said Captain Daniel Burlas, vice president of
operations for Aerolineas Argentinas.
The recently expanded Aerolineas Argentinas location will become
the latest in the Alteon global network of training centers
providing other airlines in the region with a more convenient
solution for simulator training. Additional expansion is under
consideration as the potential for the cooperation between the
airline and Alteon develops.
"Through this relationship, Aerolineas Argentinas gains a local
training solution without the heavy capital investment in training
equipment, and Alteon continues to fulfill its commitment of
support by placing simulators globally through our network of
training centers and airline alliances." said Pat Gaines, president
of Alteon.
Founded in 1950, Aerolneas Argentinas began its
relationship with Boeing in 1965 with the purchase of four Boeing
707/320Bs. Since then, the company has employed many Boeing models,
including 737, 727 and 747. Today Aerolineas Argentinas' fleet
includes eight 747--200s and-400s, 34 737 -200s and -500s and 12
MD80s. Aerolneas Argentinas is one of the leading airlines
in Latin America, transporting 6 million passengers per year with a
staff of 8,000 people.
