Pilatus PC-12 Down In Polk County, FL

Four Reportedly Fatally Injured In The Accident

A Pilatus PC-12 (similar aircraft pictured in file photo) has gone down in Polk County, FL, near the town of Lake Wales. Initial reports are that four people have been fatally injured in the accident.

The plane went down at about 1240 EDT, according to a report in the Tampa Tribune. It came to rest in the Tiger Creek Swamp area in the southeastern portion of the county, according to Polk County spokesman Andy Orrell.

Photographs of the airplane published on TBO.com show the airplane's cockpit mostly intact, but the fuselage is broken and twisted to the right just aft of the passenger cabin. The nose of the airplane is badly damaged, but the engine appears to remain attached to the airplane. Most of the right wing is missing, and the left wing is badly damaged. There appears to be some evidence of a post-impact fire

No further information is available at the present time. The FAA and NTSB will investigate the accident.
