Alteon Orders Three More Boeing 787 Training Suites

Expanding To Meet Market Demand

Due to the success of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner in the marketplace, Alteon Training has ordered an additional three Boeing 787 training suites including full-flight and flat panel simulators and desktop simulation systems, which will be placed in training centers around the world. The new suites, supplied by Thales, are in addition to the previously announced six that will be in place before the first delivery of the Boeing 787 in 2008.

“In addition to 787 training centers already announced for Tokyo, Seattle, London-Gatwick and China, 787 operators will have five more options in deciding when and where to receive their initial and follow-on training,” said, Pat Gaines, Alteon president.

“These new suites, located around the globe, will allow operators to reduce their training-related costs such as crew down time, while increasing their operational efficiency,” Gaines noted.

A decision on where to place the additional simulators will be based on fleet activity and locations most central and convenient for 787 operators.

As in the case of All Nippon Airways (ANA) and Tokyo, Gaines said, Alteon is working together with leading airlines to establish mutually beneficial training centers.

Noting that the 787 Dreamliner marks the most successful airplane launch in Boeing’s history, Lou Mancini, vice president and general manager, Boeing Commercial Aviation Services said, “The complement of nine 787 training suites is just another example of how Boeing is helping to prepare the world’s airlines to be fully ready to receive, support, and maximize the use of their new fleet.”

Alteon is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company within Boeing Commercial Airplanes' Commercial Aviation Services group. The training organization supports the world's aviation community with more than 70 full flight simulators in over 20 locations around the world.
