Rotec Radial Powers Custom Motorcycle

Think Of It Like Riding On The Nose Of A Vintage Bipe

It kind of gives new meaning to the phrase "that baby will flat fly ...," though you'd have to say it in German.

German amateur motorcycle mechanic Frank Ohle has built a bike powered by a Rotec Radial R3600 engine. All nine cylinders and 150 horsepower of it. And according to a report from C|Net, it's incredibly loud.

A YouTube video posted on the site demonstrates that the Rotec even gives off the traditional radial engine smoke plume as it comes to life, though the audio probably doesn't do the decibel level of the engine justice.

The bike, which has been dubbed the Red Baron, was reportedly 18 months from concept to street. And while you might expect to see an R3600 at the airport in a vintage bipe, or something more recent, it's very likely quite the head-turner out on the Autobahn, let alone on a city Straße.

Ohle said he had to customize just about every part of the motorcycle to make room for the Rotec. He probably also needs to make room in his ears for earplugs when he rides.
