LSA-Maker X-Air Joins LAMA

Expects ASTM Cert For LS Soon

X-Air announced recently it has joined the Light Aircraft Manufacturers Association, as the company anticipates ASTM certification of its upcoming LS light-sport aircraft.

"LAMA is the premier LSA advocate and provides services unique to the aviation industry," stated David McRae, responsible for X-Air’s flight test and training program. "LAMA is an active organization that is constantly in pursuit of the interests of our category aircraft."

X-Air is in the process of completing the requirements for the consensus standard to attain S-LSA status with the X-Air LS. The LS was recently on display at the US Sport Aviation Expo in Sebring, FL, with a demonstration aircraft on hand as well.

As ANN reported, price for the X-Air LS will start at $46,900... making it one of the lowest-cost light sport aircraft available. The company expects the plane will attract attention not only for its affordability, but also for its easy handling characteristics.

"We are excited about the LSA market and we are excited about our association with LAMA," said Justin Reimer, responsible for sales and marketing for X-Air.

The LS comes with an ICom radio, Dynon engine monitor and basic flight instrumentation, with future options to include extended fuel capability and avionics upgrades.
