On 23 February 2023 commercial aircraft titan Boeing temporarily halted deliveries of its 787 Dreamliner jets after notifying the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) that it is conducting "additional analysis on a fuselage component.” Boeing hasn’t delivered a 787 since 26 January and shan’t be permitted to resume deliveries of the wide-body jet until it can demonstrate to the FAA’s satisfaction that what the company referred to as “an analysis error by our supplier” has been resolved.
The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), in 2023, will continue its annual tradition of touring a vintage Ford Tri-Motor aircraft across the United States for purpose of providing contemporary Americans glimpses of the bawdy, jazzy, roaring ‘20s. As part of an agreement with Port Clinton, Ohio’s Liberty Aviation Museum, the EAA will operate the museum’s 1928 Ford Tri-Motor 5-AT-B on a national tour with stops currently scheduled in nine U.S. states.
The B-29 Doc History Restored Tour will open the 2023 season with two stops in Arkansas. The 10-day tour will land in Fayetteville, AR and Texarkana, AR beginning March 16 through March 26. Both stops on the tour will include B-29 Doc Flight Experience rides, along with ground and cockpit tours of B-29 Doc, one of only two B-29 Superfortresses still airworthy and flying today.
On Friday 24 February 2023, approximately four-minutes after departing Duluth International Airport (DLH), a six-year-old Cirrus SR22 GTS G6 (N929DR) went down into the frozen St. Louis River near Bong Bridge. The aircraft broke through the ice and partially submerged. The airplane’s pilot and sole occupant, Dave Rathbun (52), lost his life.
