By Ted Luebbers The Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 534 on April 8, 2021 announced that EAA National has selected this chapter to award a $10,000 Ray Aviation Scholarship for the third consecutive year. EAA Chapter 534 is located at the Leesburg International Airport in Leesburg, Florida. The Chapter’s board of directors had named one of their Squadron 534 aviation youth members, Emily Lininger of Fruitland Park, FL, to be the scholarship recipient. Navy To Pay $1.6B for New P-8A Poseidon Submarine Hunters

11 Additional Jets To Patrol The Globe

The U.S. Navy awarded Boeing a $1.6 billion production contract for the next 11 P-8A Poseidon aircraft. Nine aircraft will join the U.S. Navy fleet and two will go to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), a cooperative partner in the P-8A joint program since 2009. The contract brings the total number of U.S. Navy P-8A aircraft under contract to 128 and the RAAF total to 14. “The P-8A continues to be an invaluable asset and these additional aircraft will help deliver expanded maritime patrol and reconnaissance capabilities to the fleet,” said Capt. Eric Gardner, program manager for the U.S. Navy’s Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance Program Office.

On July 24, 2020, about 1159 Pacific daylight time, a Vans RV-8, N138PM, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Tehachapi Airport (TSP), Tehachapi, California. AD 2021-07-12 Was Prompted By A Reassessment Of The Flight Control System

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for Airbus Helicopters Deutschland GmbH Model EC135P1, EC135P2, EC135P2+, EC135P3, EC135T1, EC135T2, EC135T2+, and EC135T3 helicopters. This AD was prompted by a reassessment of the flight control system. This AD requires modification of the cyclic stick, as specified in a European Aviation Safety Agency (now European Union Aviation Safety Agency) (EASA) AD, which is incorporated by reference. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products. This AD is effective May 11, 2021.
