FAA Changes ATC Guidelines For Formation Flights

Clarifies Language And Outlines ATC Responsibilities

The  FAA has issued a notice outlining controller responsibilities regarding formation flight join-up and clarifies controller responsibility during formation flight break-up. The language regarding pilot responsibilities during formation flight was also changed to language currently published in FAA Order JO 7610.4, the Pilot Controller Glossary (PCG) and in ICAO Annex 2. The notice cancels and replaces N JO 7110.747 with revised language which updates FAA Order JO 7110.65, 2-1-13 Formation Flights, in order to clarify ATC responsibilities and to give guidance to ATC facilities and the service centers.

The new H145 helicopter full-flight simulator at the ADAC HEMS (Helicopter Emergency Medical Service) Academy in Bonn, Germany, has just been qualified to meet the EASA requirements for a Level D training device – the highest possible certification for synthetic flight training devices.

Japan Coast Guard Bolsters Fleet With Additional H225 Order

New Purchase Brings JCG’s Super Puma Fleet To 13 Units

The Japan Coast Guard (JCG) has placed an order for one H225 Helicopter from Airbus Helicopters, bringing JCG’s H225 fleet to ten units. JCG currently operates three AS332s and five H225s, both from the Super Puma family. With this new order, the customer’s Super Puma fleet will grow to 13 units by March 2021, becoming the largest Super Puma operator in Japan.
