Italian National Fire Corps To Enhance Its Emergency Airborne Capabilities

Inks Contract For Three AW139 Helicopters

In a move to enhance its emergency multirole airborne capabilities to more effectively counter the ever increasing risks of firefighting duties, the Italian National Fire Corps (Vigili del Fuoco) has signed a contract for the supply of three AW139 intermediate twin engine helicopters. The order, valued at around $51 million, also includes integrated logistic support and training for pilots and technicians, and encompasses an option for 12 additional helicopters. Deliveries of the three new aircraft are expected to start shortly and to be completed in 2019.

Deal With Veritas Capital Expected To Close In Early 2019

Global alternative asset manager The Carlyle Group has agreed to acquire StandardAero, a provider of aftermarket engine maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services for the aerospace and defense industries, from Veritas Capital. The transaction is subject to customary regulatory conditions and is expected to close by the end of the first quarter of 2019. Financial terms were not disclosed, though some industry analysts have estimated the value of the transaction at about $5 billion, according to media reports.
