NASA: 'SpaceX Has Made Significant Progress On Its Crew Transportation Capabilities'
NASA partner Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX) has completed an important design review of the crewed version of its Dragon spacecraft. The concept baseline review presented NASA with the primary and secondary design elements of its Dragon capsule designed to carry astronauts into low Earth orbit, including the International Space Station.
ICON Aircraft announced that its A5 Light Sport Aircraft will be powered by the new Rotax 912 iS engine. The two companies collaborated during the development of both the Rotax 912 iS engine and the A5 to ensure a seamless integration of the new Rotax. The new fuel-injected powerplant will be the launch engine initially available in the A5, for which ICON has taken over 750 deposits.
Diamond Aircraft and FTEJerez announced a firm order for eight DA42 and two DA42 FNPT2 simulators to expand their current fleet. Boeing and Kuwait airplane leasing company ALAFCO today announced a commitment at the 2012 Farnborough Airshow for 20 Boeing 737 MAX 8s valued at $1.9 billion at current list prices. Boeing looks forward to finalizing the agreement, at which time the order will be posted to the Boeing Orders & Deliveries website.
