Attorneys Ask Permission For Family To Keep Flying
A California businessman has asked the court's permission for
his family to continue flying his Gulfstream G-IV, even after the
high-dollar bizjet was seized in July over charges it was used to
transport narcotics.
It's no secret that fewer people are flying today... be it on
the airlines, or in their own private or rented aircraft. But that
may not be the entire reason why one city has started cutting back
its aviation advisory council.
Unit Provides Vital Information When It's Needed Most
Avionics manufacturer FreeFlight Systems announced this week the
availability of the newly-certified RA 4000 Radar Altimeter. The
FAA awarded FreeFlight Systems a technical standard order (TSO-C87)
authorization for the RA 4000 in late August.
DARPA Follow-On Deal For HyFly Valued At $18.3 Million
Boeing was recently awarded an $18.3 million follow-on contract
from the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to
conduct a third powered flight of the HyFly hypersonic missile.
HyFly is powered by a Dual Combustion Ramjet (DCR) engine.

Fully 70 percent of all general aviation flight hours are in
support of business activities. That includes everything from the
Fortune 500 company with a fleet of business jets and professional

A NASA spacecraft will conduct the second of three flybys of

Aircraft To Join Embraer's Legacy 600 In Static Display At
ORL
For the first time in the United States, Embraer will display
its upcoming Phenom 100 VLJ and Phenom 300 light jet at NBAA 2008.
The two new aircraft will join Embraer's Legacy 600 on the ramp at
the Orlando Executive Airport (ORL.)
After seven months of keeping it to herself, a New Jersey woman
has come forward with details of what sounds like a really creepy
encounter with a male flight attendant.
NASA has assigned the crew for space shuttle Discovery's STS-129
mission. The flight will deliver two experiment racks to the
International Space Station.
Eight Member Companies To Be Honored For 50+ Years Of Safe
Flying
The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) recently
announced the recipients of the Association’s 2008 Flying
Safety Awards Program. The award recipients will be formally
recognized during NBAA's 61st Annual Meeting & Convention in
Orlando, FL, which will take place from Monday, October 6 to
Wednesday, October 8.
Boeing announced Thursday it is combining Alteon, its
wholly-owned training subsidiary, and existing training groups
within Boeing Commercial Airplanes to form a new, unified training
organization. The new training organization retains the Alteon name
as a business unit within Boeing Commercial Aviation Services.
New Tools Key To Better Air Traffic Control, Reduced Fuel

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University announced this week it will
demonstrate to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) its
progress in developing air traffic control tools capable of
reducing weather-related flight delays, reducing aircraft fuel
consumption, and improving the efficiency of flight operations.

A practice approach by a jet aircraft (normally military) at
idle thrust to a runway. The approach may start at a runway (high
key) and may continue on a relatively high and wide downwind leg
with a continuous turn to final. It terminates in landing or low
approach. The purpose of this approach is to simulate a
flameout.
