"Poignant" may be the best word to describe the finale of the
2007 Reno National Championship Air Races. Pilots, crewmembers, and
fans wrapped up a tough week Sunday with clean, fast racing. After
an accident-marred week of qualifying, wherein three race pilots
lost their lives within four days, the races came to an end on a
more upbeat note.

The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) stated its
support Tuesday for Congressional legislation to fund the Federal
Aviation Administration (FAA) and modernize the nation's aviation
system through excise taxes, rather than new taxes or untested user
fees.
The Government of Saudi Arabia has reached agreement with the UK
Government to purchase 72 Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft. The
agreement follows plans outlined in December 2005, to establish a
greater partnership in modernizing the Saudi Arabian Armed
Forces.

Blossoming Economy Brings New Middle Class To The Skies
Vietnam is proving to be one of the fastest-growing commercial
air travel markets in the world... and the plane-making
heavyweights are vying for a piece of what could be a very
lucrative pie.
HAI tells ANN that 'events are unfolding rapidly in Washington
this week,' with the soon-to-expire FAA Reauthorization Bill moving
quickly through the U.S. House of Representatives. The HAI has
learned the House Ways and Means Committee will release the tax
portions of the legislation later today, September 18, while the
House Rules Committee will act on Wednesday, September 19, so that
the bill could be on the House floor by Thursday, September 20.
Some discouraging -- though not unexpected -- news on the search
for missing aviator Steve Fossett. Officials involved with the now
two-week-old search effort tell Agence-France Presse efforts have
slowed considerably, with only a handful of military helicopters
still flying.

Former World Rally Champion Colin McRae was killed Saturday when
his Eurocopter AS350 helicopter went down about 200 yards from his
home in Lanarkshire, Scotland on landing.

computer equipment by the Minnesota Business Partnership Monday for

Helicopter tells ANN it recently signed large orders with two
emergency medical service providers for the company's 407 and
206L-4 aircraft.
Flexjet Scheduled To Take Delivery Of Approximately 22 Learjet
60 XR Aircraft Over Five Years
Bombardier's Flexjet has taken delivery of its first Learjet 60
XR midsize business jet – the first of three entering service
in the Flexjet fleet now, according to Michael McQuay, president of
Bombardier’s Flexjet. Flexjet is scheduled to induct
approximately 22 Learjet 60 XR aircraft into the Flexjet fractional
fleet over the next five years.
First things first: whoever named the Cessna Pilot Center at
California's San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport certainly
earned their paycheck that week, as it's one of the cleverest
business names we've come across in recent memory.
