A Helios Airways Boeing 737 crashed Sunday near the coastal town
of Grammatikos, Greece, with 116 passengers and 6 crew onboard. The
flight was heading from Larnaca, Cyprus to Athens International
Airport when it crashed approximately 25 miles north of Athens.
The ICAS Foundation just announced that applications will be
accepted during August and September for the Sean DeRosier Memorial
Scholarship. The scholarship is available to a young man or woman
with a private pilot license between the ages of 18 and 31 and
residing in the western United States, defined as the states of
California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada or Idaho.

will utilize when determining the placement and height of new air
traffic control towers across the country – and the move
might save some money, too.
Eight US Air Force aircraft and 100 people will participate in
the Moscow International Air Show 2005 at Ramenskoye Airfield,
Russia, from August 16th to 21st. The aircraft will include two
F-15E Strike Eagles, two F-16 Fighting Falcons, a KC-10 Extender, a
KC-135 Stratotanker and two B-1B Lancers.
The Volusia County School Board (VCSB) and Embry-Riddle
Aeronautical University have completed a land swap that allows
Embry-Riddle to add almost 13 acres to the proposed aeronautical
research park on Clyde Morris Boulevard and Aviation Parkway
adjacent to the airport.
The USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) Carrier Strike Group began activities
August 7th in support of Joint Air and Sea Exercise (JASEX) 2005.
JASEX, now in its third year, is intended to demonstrate the U.S.
commitment in the western Pacific region by conducting joint
training of Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps assets.
