Digital Noise Reduction Helps In Noisy Environment
After the introduction of a variety of aviation headsets
for fixed wing aircraft, German manufacturer beyerdynamic has
rolled out models it says are designed for the rotary wing crowd
... the HS 600 DANR Rotor with Digital Adaptive Noise Reduction and
HS 200 Rotor with passive noise attenuation.
beyerdynamic claims the HS 600 DANR Rotor is a breakthrough in
Digital Adaptive Noise Reduction for helicopters. For the
calculation of the necessary counter-sound to eliminate background
noise, the DANR provides a high speed micro processor and a
software algorithm developed by beyerdynamic. They claim the
background noise experienced when using conventional analog
headsets is completely eliminated by the process.
The HS 600 DANR Rotor provides a coiled cable and a Nexus
U-174/U jack plug. The DANR is battery-powered, or can be powered
by the aircraft's electrical system using an additional cable with
3-pin XLR connector. The headset is supplied with male and female
connectors, and the delivery includes a carrying bag with two
cables to connect an MP3 player or mobile phone.
If you have a little extra money in
your pocket and want to personalize your headset, it can be
individually created at the company's website. beyerdynamic says
you can choose from a variety of different materials and colors for
the basic components such as headband pads, ear pads or metal
bezels. A personal laser engraving on the stainless steel clips on
both sides makes the headset really unique.
For pilots who prefer a passive headset, beyerdynamic offers the
HS 200 Rotor which provides a coiled cable and a Nexus U-174/U jack
plug.
