Oh My, Dubai! GAMCO, CMC Electronics Complete Dubai Air Wing Avionics Upgrade

Second L100-30 Flight Deck Modified

CMC Electronics Inc. tells ANN it has completed the avionics systems integration of a second L100-30 aircraft for the Dubai Air Wing. CMC Electronics is teamed with Gulf Aircraft Maintenance Company (GAMCO), the prime contractor for the project.

The Dubai Air Wing L100-30 aircraft -- a variant of the C-130 Hercules -- is on static display at this year's Dubai Air Show.

CMC Electronics supplied its CMA-900 Flight Management System (FMS) as the core of the upgrade, while GAMCO was responsible for all Program Depot Maintenance (PDM) inspection requirements, a new cargo handling system, aircraft painting and the installation of the cockpit upgrade systems in full coordination with CMC Electronics. The installation on board the Dubai Air Wing L100-30 aircraft also features the CMC Electronics' PilotView Electronic Flight Bag (EFB).

The Dubai Air Wing configuration is a multi-sensor system based on a fully integrated dual CMA-900 FMS, providing effectively 100% dispatch reliability anywhere in the world, and seamless navigation from take-off to final approach. This upgrade will allow the Dubai Air Wing's aircraft to meet all P-RNAV (precision area navigation), flight data recording and TAWS (Terrain Avoidance Warning System) requirements.  The CMA-900 features a color, liquid-crystal multi-function display and includes CMC Electronics' industry-leading GPS sensor.

"We have thoroughly enjoyed working with the Dubai Air Wing and GAMCO on this comprehensive modernization program," said Bruce Bailey, CMC Electronics' Vice President, Commercial Aviation.

According to Dubai Air Wing Commander Brigadier (Pilot) Rashid Balhaul, "We look forward to reaping the many economic, operational and safety related benefits provided by the upgrade of our  L100-30 aircraft."
