Larkins Appointed As Chairman Of Board For Careers In Aviation

Joined Organization As Nat'l Spokesman In 2002

Careers in Aviation told ANN recently that Jamail Larkins has been appointed as Chairman of the Board for the term of three years, to begin in 2008. Larkins joined Careers in Aviation in 2002 as the national spokesperson for the non-profit organization.

"I have always been passionate about promoting the aviation industry," said Larkins. "I was given so many opportunities to fulfill my aviation dreams and I want to help give that same opportunity to other kids. Careers in Aviation’s sole purpose is to assist young people in realizing and achieving aviation careers and I am privileged to be a part of the organization."

In addition to his role with Careers in Aviation, Larkins founded the DreamLaunch Tour in 2004. DreamLaunch is a nationwide tour designed to educate students about their career opportunities in the aviation industry. In 2005, Larkins was appointed the first Ambassador for Aviation & Space Education for the Federal Aviation Administration, by Administrator Marion C. Blakey. In this capacity, Jamail acts as an official representative of the FAA, promoting aviation career opportunities to America’s youth, as well as the benefits of aviation to mainstream America.

Among his many other accomplishments and recognitions, Larkins is a 2006 graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

Careers in Aviation advances aerospace education and employment by fostering scholarships, by connecting students with available assistance, and by encouraging the aviation industry, professional associations, government agencies, and the educational community to work together effectively supporting aviation and space career development programs.
