Incorporated In 11 AW109s Bound For Rega
Max-Viz announced Monday the incorporation of 11 EVS-1000
infrared sensor systems onto the AgustaWestland Grand (AW109)
helicopter. Initial deliveries have been completed to the Swiss
air-rescue operator Rega.
"We are pleased by the inclusion of Max-Viz EVS products as an
integral technology on this truly next-generation AgustaWestland
design," said Elliott Troutman, president of Max-Viz. "The
integration of EVS in addition to SVS, TAWS, and NVG applications
for Rega will provide them with an unprecedented level of
situational awareness within their demanding operational area."
"The addition of EVS in addition to TAWS integrates two of the
most critical safety specific technologies to this impressive Grand
airframe," added Bob Yerex, director of sales and marketing for the
company. "Rega and AgustaWestland have cooperatively set an
enviable technological benchmark for the helicopter industry, and
one that should garner some serious looks from the HEMS industry,
as well as the most fly-safe oriented Corporate / VIP operators
worldwide."
Max-Viz touts its offerings as the smallest, most reliable, and
affordable Enhanced Vision Systems on the market. The systems use
real-time infrared sensors, signal processing, and a cockpit
display to provide flight crews with actual images of terrain,
runways, taxiways, aircraft and other potential obstacles much
better than the naked eye during poor visibility conditions such as
light fog, haze, smoke, brown / whiteout, light precipitation and
darkness.
