Flight Explorer Professional Edition 6.0 Intro'd

Delivers New and Advanced Flight Operations Management Decision-Support Tools

Flight Explorer (FE), a global flight tracking, information technology and communications solutions provider to the aviation community, has announced the release of Flight Explorer Professional Edition 6.0, an integrated flight management decision-support tool. Version 6.0 provides more powerful capabilities in routing, weather prediction and awareness of air traffic and airport congestion.

FE Professional is the industry's most accurate, reliable and widely-used aircraft situation display system. Using several proprietary interfaces that Flight Explorer has developed, the software can be easily integrated with operational support systems to meet each customer’s unique requirements.

“With this new release,” said Flight Explorer CEO Jim Kelly, “our product moves significantly beyond just ‘flight tracking,’ incorporating multiple data feeds, dynamic weather overlays, situational alerts, predictive weather and predictive air traffic tools to make FE Professional 6.0 a complete flight operations management tool.”

New FE Professional 6.0 features include:

  • Flight Planning System Integration – With FE Professional 6.0 users can send route-planning information between Flight Explorer and the flight planning tools that they already use.  Users can easily import and display Company and Preferred Routes with current and predicted weather and air traffic overlays and then take appropriate action within their operations.
  • ENSCO Predictive Weather – Users now can view predicted graphical weather scenarios six hours ahead - in time to plan and take action to ensure safe and on-time operations.
  • NASA FACET Predictive Air Traffic - Provides users the ability to view forecasts of anticipated traffic at an airport or within a given airspace sector - in time to plan and take appropriate action within their flight operations.
  • Enhanced Airport Information - Users can view METARs (Meteorological Aviation Routine Weather Reports), TAFs (Terminal Aerodrome Forecasts), NOTAMs, PIREPs, FAA Delays, RVR and Flight Explorer exclusive Diversion Summary graphics and determine the impact of each on their operations.
  • Runway Visual Range (RVR) Data - Users can determine, in real time, the visibility conditions at any airport runway where the FAA reports real-time RVR, enabling the user to better anticipate airport arrival or departure delays.
  • Route Check Functionality – Provides clients the ability to view routes in relation to other en-route traffic and weather - allowing users to anticipate delays and make necessary flight planning changes.
  • ESRI Shape File Support – Users can now import industry standard vector image files (or create their own) for display of geographical or company specific points, lines or polygons fully integrated with Flight Explorer.  This feature allows the user to display custom points of interests such as hospitals, volcanoes, regions and more.
  • 20 Second Data – Users can now receive aircraft position updates every 20 seconds at 13 U.S. TRACONs to better visualize terminal area traffic, holding patterns and runway usage.

Version 6.0 also brings with it updates to key data sources, as well as other enhancements in response to requests from FE’s global customer base.
